Child Sponsorship
Orphan Care International invites those interested to share in our vision to make a difference in the lives of the children in Docsek’s home. A monthly gift of $30 will ensure that your child has a loving home, proper nutrition, a school uniform, paid school fees, clothing and medical costs. You can go to the
Docsek Home
website and choose the child you would like to sponsor, or OCI will choose one for you.

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about child sponsorship:
What is a Child Sponsor?
A sponsor is someone who has made the decision to personally invest in the life of a child in need. As a sponsor, you will enable your child to participate in a life-changing experience for them including an education, health care, social skills development and, most important, a loving Christian home. You will have a very significant role in your child’s development.
How would my child benefit from my $30 per month sponsorship?
One hundred percent of the money that you donate to OCI for your child’s sponsorship will go directly to Docsek Home. OCI is a volunteer run non-profit organization
and does not take any overhead charges from your donation.
Your
gift will help to feed, clothe, and give health care and education to your child. It is important to note that $5.00 of every donation you make to your child will be deposited directly into your child’s college fund. Your child will develop self confidence and social skills knowing that he or she is loved and special.
Can I send gifts to my child?
Yes. OCI encourages sponsors to give gifts to their child. Although the typical delivery services are unreliable and therefore discouraged, you may send a gift along with any team member who personally visits the home. These gifts reinforce your love and commitment to your child. If you choose to send money, the money will be added to that child’s college fund account.
Can I send letters to my child?
Definitely! Once you have become a sponsor, you are welcome to communicate directly with your child through our organization, who will see it is delivered to your child. Keep in mind that the postal service is quite slow and months may go by before you receive your child’s response. Be assured that your child will respond to your letter. We encourage you to share openly with your child so he/she can learn about you and your family. Please send pictures and tell your child all about your family. Be assured they will treasure everything they receive from you.
How can I keep up to date about the child I am sponsoring?
Hopefully you will be writing to your child and your child will be responding. You will also receive quarterly reports about your child, their lives and activities and a current photograph. Of course, we encourage you to join a team visiting Docsek and you can meet your child face to face.
Is there anything that I cannot send to my sponsored child?
When you communicate with your child, we ask that your comments and materials are consistent with the Christian values and philosophies. We will not forward anything that might be considered inappropriate in our or Zambia’s culture. We also will not forward anything that promotes lifestyle choices that we view as inconsistent with Biblically based lifestyles.
Will I be the only person sponsoring the child I have chosen?
In order to meet the financial needs of Docsek, at least 10 sponsors per child is needed. You have the choice to be the only sponsor if you can meet the financial needs of the sponsorship responsibility.
