What will a trip cost and how long is the trip?

Airfare from San Francisco to Lusaka can be found for around $2300 round trip
if you plan ahead. Travel insurance is highly recommended.  From Lusaka to Mazabuka, the trip takes about 1 ½ hours. A bus ride will cost about $10.

What other expenses should I plan on paying?


Lodging in Mazabuka:  10 night stay is approximately $450 including meals
Entry Visa:  $100 upon arrival at Lusaka airport
Departure Tax:  $20 paid by credit card or cash when departing Zambia
Passport:  $97 – allow six weeks for processing
Passport Photos:  $10-$16 (Total of 2 needed)
Immunizations:  $5.00-$300

Please Note that the Hepatitis shots need to begin about 3 months ahead of travel!

Required:
Malaria (by prescription)

Highly suggested:
Tetanus $10
Hep A $45
Yellow Fever $25

To consider:
Hep B $40
Tyhpoid $50 a shot or $45 for pills

You can get these at your local County Public Health Department. You may want to review the CDC – Center for Disease Control – website for current requirements and general information on diseases in Zambia.
