Orphan Care International was the creation of Sherry Holbrook, who is the current Executive Director. Sherry first became aware of the need to provide help to orphans on her first trip to Zambia in May 2004. Sherry began to make frequent trips to Zambia with the heart to provide aid to these children she had come in contact with in 2004. She soon realized that she could not do it alone. She then founded Orphan Care International.
Orphan Care International was Founded and Incorporated in 2006 with the purpose of helping orphans and vulnerable children in third-world countries who have been affected/infected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Orphan Care International is a non-profit organization and is funded solely by donations of caring individuals like your-self. Orphan Care International believes that every penny received should be directly donated to our current projects to benefit the children. Orphan Care International was not formed to benefit any individual, except for those in the supporting projects. Not one penny is kept as overhead. This is attainable because Orphan Care International does not have an office, salary, company cars, or travel/expense reimbursements. Orphan Care Internationals reimbursement is the joy of being able to help.
Orphan Care International is a hands-on corporation. Sherry makes frequent visits to the project sites to help oversee the running of the home that Orphan Care International helps to fund. When not at a project site Sherry keeps in contact by email and telephone. Orphan Care International invites you to join us on a future team to gain the experience of giving and the ability to get to know the Sherry and the children. We are incorporated as a charitable organization in the state of California and have obtained the tax-exempt status 501(c)(3) from the Internal Revenue Service. We work in collaboration with North Valley Community Foundation where you may send your tax deductible donations.
