June 2008-
Orphan Care International currently has volunteer opportunities available to join
a team for an upcoming trip to Mazabuka, Zambia, Africa. There are openings to join
a team travelling in October 2008.
Volunteers will work with orphans from age two to young adult at Docsek Home. The
activities will not only include teaching basic English and math skills, but also
include play time, organizing learning games and arts and crafts. There is a huge
focus on the children having fun, being happy and enjoying the rest of their lives.
This is in real contrast to the devastating conditions they have experienced in
their past. We will spend 3 days assisting with harvesting and selling crops to
earn income for the home.

Community-based projects such as hospital visitation and blanket and school supply
distribution are also included. Volunteers are required to pay their own expenses,
including travel, food and accommodations. Some vaccinations are required before
departure, so it is important to start making plans soon. You don’t have to be a
movie star or pop icon to make a difference in Africa!
You can also help support the orphanage by donating clothes, shoes, books, toys,
school supplies and/or toiletries. The items do not have to be new, but should be
in good condition. Cash donations are desperately needed and appreciated.
